The Ma-Cho Temple

Nestled atop a hill overlooking the beautiful San Fernando bay of the City of San Fernando, La Union. The Ma-Cho temple was constructed in honor of Ma-Cho, a chinese deity of the Sung Dynasty. Ma-Cho hailed from the scenic island of  Moichow, province of Fukien in southeastern China. In the Philippines, among Christians, Ma-Cho is known as the Virgin of Caysasay. The Image of the Virgin of Caysasay first appeared in Taal, Batangas in 1603. Presently, it is enshrined in the town's basilica of St. Martin.

The image of Ma-Cho in this temple was a parting gift of love in 1968 of Taiwanese fishermen to devotees of Ma-Cho in La Union. The distinctive features of the temple were inspirations of Ma-Cho through "buyong" sessions.

The image of Ma-Cho was enshrined in the temple on July 3, 1978 and the temple was inaugurated on December 6, 1978.

The image of Kwan Yen (Goddess of Mercy)
It is believed that this image has a Christian counterpart known as the Virgin of Caysasay.

Bacsil Ridge Monument

Located 9 kilometers northeast of San Fernando town proper through the San Fernando-Bagulin Road, Bacsil Ridge was the last bastion of the retreating Japanese Imperial Army in the province. Later, the Ridge constituted the East Flank of the 121st Infantry of the United States Armed Forces in the Philippines, Northern Luzon (USAFIP, NL) during the Liberation in 1945. Bacsil Ridge is now famous for its breathtaking view of the coastal line of San Fernando. In here, you can almost see the entire city of San Fernando.

From sunrise to sundown

If life is a highway

is is one of the reasons why I love to travel on my motorcycle despite the long drive. Cool and fresh air not the mention the relaxing feeling you will get driving along this road, I wish you were there with me to share the experience.

Wish we have a lot of this in the metro.
